Terms of use
Updated
By using Nordlys i natt? you accept these terms. We have kept them short and readable.
The service
Nordlys i natt? gives a free, automatic estimate of whether the aurora may be visible at a given place, based on open data from NOAA, MET Norway and Kartverket. The service is provided “as is”, with no guarantee that it is always available or free of errors.
Forecasts are estimates, not promises
The aurora cannot be forecast with certainty. Kp forecasts more than a few hours ahead are uncertain, and cloud cover can change quickly. A YES means good conditions, not a guaranteed display, and a NO does not mean an aurora is impossible. Use the service as one of several tools. Read more about how the verdict works.
Safety
Aurora chasing often happens at night, in cold, darkness and on icy roads. You are responsible for your own safety. Follow avalanche warnings and road conditions, park safely and respect private property and local rules. See our advice on safety and clothing. In an emergency in Norway, call 112.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage or cost arising from use of the service or the content, such as a wasted trip or a cancelled journey.
